About us

Capoeira, rooted in Croydon. Carried with care.

Capoeira Club Croydon was created to bring the depth, music and movement of Afro-Brazilian capoeira to South London, through a women-led approach that prioritises inclusion, progression and cultural integrity.

Our story

A space for body and culture.

Capoeira is a vibrant blend of movement, music and culture, born from resilience and the enduring pursuit of freedom. It carries centuries of history and a living tradition that shapes everything we teach.

We are a Croydon community where adults and children train side by side, learn the songs and instruments of the roda, and grow stronger together.

Our values

Women-led. Community-powered.

  • Inclusive perspective. Classes welcome every body, age and background.
  • Empowerment focus. A special dedication to helping women find their strength and leadership in capoeira.
  • Cultural integrity. Music, language and history taught with respect for their origins.
  • Local roots. Built for Croydon, open to all of South London.

Our lineage & connection

Part of a global capoeira family.

We are honored to be part of the broader Capoeira network, preserving the legacy of Master Hiram Ribeiro, who founded Capoeira Club London in 2012. Through this connection, our students gain authentic insights into Capoeira's rich history, evolving techniques, and cultural significance.

At Capoeira Club Croydon, you're not just learning a martial art, you're joining a global family. Our classes seamlessly combine physical training, creativity, and self-expression, all within a supportive and inspiring community that empowers you to grow and thrive.

Come and feel the roda.

The best way to understand capoeira is to experience it. Your first class is the doorway.
